Who We Are

What We Collect

When you use The Oracle, we collect the following:

• Account information — Your name, email address, and profile photo from Google when you sign in with Google.
• NPC characters — The character names, descriptions, personalities, knowledge, and campaign memories you create and save.
• AI-generated portraits — Images generated by OpenAI's image model based on your character descriptions, stored in our system when you save a character.
• Subscription information — Your subscription status (free or pro). Payment details are handled entirely by Stripe and are never stored on our servers.
• Usage data — Basic server logs including which pages you visit and when errors occur. We do not track individual user behavior in detail.

We do not store the content of your voice conversations. Audio is transcribed in real time and discarded — only the text transcript of the current session is held temporarily in memory and cleared when you leave.

How We Use Your Data

• To provide and operate the app — your characters and memories are stored so you can access them across sessions and devices.
• To manage your subscription — we use your email to associate your account with your Stripe subscription status.
• To generate NPC portraits — your character descriptions are sent to OpenAI's image generation API to generate images.
• To process voice input — your voice is sent to OpenAI's Whisper API for transcription on iOS and Safari devices.
• To power AI conversations — your messages during a session are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate NPC responses.

Third-Party Services

The Oracle uses the following third-party services to operate. Each has their own privacy policy:

• Supabase — Stores your account data and saved characters. Privacy Policy
• Anthropic (Claude) — Powers NPC conversations. Privacy Policy
• OpenAI — Generates portraits (image API) and transcribes voice (Whisper). Privacy Policy
• ElevenLabs — Generates NPC voices for Pro subscribers. Privacy Policy
• Stripe — Processes subscription payments. Privacy Policy
• Google — Provides sign-in authentication. Privacy Policy
• Railway — Hosts the application. Privacy Policy
• Google AdSense — Displays advertisements on the free tier. Google uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Privacy Policy

Advertising

Free tier users of The Oracle may see advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other sites on the internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info.

Pro subscribers do not see advertisements.

Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your characters, portraits, and profile information will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

Server logs are retained for up to 90 days for debugging purposes, then automatically deleted.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Export your saved characters (use the Export button in the app)
• Opt out of any future marketing communications

Children's Privacy

The Oracle is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
