The short version: Use the app for its intended purpose, don't abuse it, pay for what you use, and we'll keep it running for you. These terms are plain English — please read them.
By using The Oracle at oraclenpc.com, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. These terms are between you and Kyle Pominville ("we", "us", "our"), operating The Oracle from Michigan, USA.
The Oracle is a web application for Dungeon Masters and tabletop roleplaying game players. It allows you to create AI-powered NPC characters that players can have voice conversations with during game sessions.
The app uses AI services (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI) to generate NPC responses, portraits, and transcriptions. AI outputs are creative and generative — they are not guaranteed to be accurate, appropriate for all audiences, or consistent across sessions.
You need a Google account to use The Oracle. You are responsible for keeping your account secure. Let us know immediately at hello@oraclenpc.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
You must be at least 13 years old to use The Oracle. By signing up, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
The Oracle offers two tiers:
We reserve the right to change the features included in each tier with reasonable notice. We will not remove core features from your current tier without notifying you first.
Pro subscriptions are billed monthly ($5/month) or annually ($55/year) through Stripe. By subscribing you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.
You agree not to use The Oracle to:
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without refund.
You own the NPC characters, descriptions, and memories you create. We don't claim ownership of your content.
By using the app you grant us a limited license to store and process your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you. We do not use your characters or conversations to train AI models.
AI-generated portraits created by the app are yours to use for personal and non-commercial purposes. Commercial use of AI-generated images may be subject to OpenAI's terms of service.
We aim to keep The Oracle running reliably, but we can't guarantee 100% uptime. The service depends on third-party AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, ElevenLabs) whose availability is outside our control.
We may perform maintenance, updates, or take the service offline temporarily. We'll try to give advance notice for planned downtime.
The Oracle is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kyle Pominville is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of The Oracle is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim.
The Oracle provides tools to simulate conversations with fictional entities for entertainment purposes. We make no guarantees regarding the behavior of any actual extra-planar beings, ancient dragons, liches, fey nobles, or other entities that may be inadvertently summoned as a result of using this application.
Kyle Pominville accepts no liability for rifts in the planar fabric, unsolicited prophecies, bargains made with supernatural entities, curses, hauntings, or any binding magical contracts entered into during or after a session. If your players accidentally free a lich from his phylactery, that's on them.
Users assume full responsibility for any candles lit, circles drawn, or incantations spoken during gameplay. We strongly recommend consulting a local cleric before attempting any ritual that requires a material component.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, USA. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Michigan. Disputes with extra-planar entities fall outside Michigan jurisdiction and should be referred to the nearest Arbiters of Mechanus.
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes we'll update the "Last updated" date and notify active subscribers by email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
